Farms / Plots

Without farms there are no crops, and this indirectly means there is nothing to trace. After signing up, farmers need to register their farms. All farms need to be tied to a farmer. A farmer can have multiple farms. In cases where Maphlix owns the farm, they need to create a farmer account and register their farms under that farmer.

The following data needs to be collected when defining farms.

Field Description
Name The name of the farm. If they fail to enter a value for this show the message "Please enter a name for this farm"
Location The location of the farm. This could be a town name or any descriptive location understood by Maphix. If they fail to enter a value for this show the message "Please enter a location for this farm"
Size The size of the farm. This will be measured by the app. The user will not be allowed to enter an arbitrary value. They will need to walk round the farm and plot the coordinates that will generate a map of the farm as well as its size. If they fail to enter a value for this show the message "Please generate a size for this farm"
Code The code to prefix traceability codes with when dealing with this farm. This needs to be maximum three characters and all uppercase. If they fail to select a value for this show the message "Please enter a code"

Now that the farm is registered, activities can be recorded for this farm.

Reusing Farms

Once a farming season is done, the farm needs to be archived. Once a farm is archived, it needs to be re-registered if the same farm needs to be used again for a new season. Even if it is the same crop that will be planted on the farm, it still needs to be re-registered. In summary, no farm code can be used two times.
